Permaculture is a system of design that mimics the natural ecological systems. It aims at creating a beautiful sustainable landscape while providing food, ecological repair, rainwater management, natural building, waste management, and building communities.
Our goal at Pensacola Permaculture is to be a resource to our community by providing information, workshops, design consultation and landscape management that are aligned with the 3 tenets of Permaculture.
- Care of the earth: Provision for all life systems to continue and multiply. This is the first principle, because without a healthy earth, humans cannot flourish.
- Care of the people: Provision for people to access those resources necessary for their existence.
- Return of Surplus: Reinvesting surpluses back into the system to provide for the first two ethics. This includes returning waste back into the system to recycle into usefulness.
We will be documenting the activities, projects, and stories of our personal experience on our family’s journey in Permaculture Design. Also, we will be sharing knowledge and content to provide education for those just discovering Permaculture. We look forward to hosting on site workshops and opportunities to participate in projects as a community. Permaculture Design Consultation will be offered according to our availability. Services can be tailored to individual needs, from drawing a workable plan for one to implement their own landscape to routine landscape management.
“Permaculture is defined as consciously designed landscapes which mimic the patterns and relationships found in nature, while yielding an abundance of food, fibre and energy for the provision of local needs…more precisely I see Permaculture as the use of systems thinking and design principles that provide the organising framework for implementing the above vision”
David Holmgren ‘Pathways to Sustainability’ 2004
