Our Story

Our family’s path to sustainability…

We discovered Permaculture about 3 years ago while nurturing our interest in homesteading.  The principals seemed to make so much sense to us, and we could not learn enough. While most couples watch the latest drama or sitcom, we found ourselves excited to snuggle up on the couch watching Geoff Lawton construct compost piles and dig swales.  We chose our current home and land with a permaculture mindset.  As were finally able to put into practice the skills we had studied, we realized two things. One, this is going to take a lot more time and energy than we thought. Two, we love it more everytime we walk out of our door to collect eggs, harvest fresh vegetables, watch the geese playing in their little pool.  The time and energy put into the first years of a permaculture system can be overwhelming. As the system matures, the inputs become less and the feelings of accomplishment, security and enjoyment are wonderful. This is how people are meant to live together with nature.

  1. I live in Mobile area. I am just beginning my permaculture lifestyle and have been looking for local permies to collaborate with. I started with Geoff Lawton couch time too. You are the closest permie family that I have found so far to my area.

    1. Hi Fonda,
We are starting a Permaculture group here in the Pensacola area. We have been meeting once a month with a group of locals. I’m sure Permies are hiding in your area as well. Once you start to find them the group grows quickly. Try posting a message in garden section on craigslist and sign up for this site so people can find you http://permacultureglobal.com/ . You are welcome to come visit up if you would like as well. Good luck!
      Rick
